Probate
Nonintervention probate
Washington’s default probate process and why most estates qualify.
Nonintervention probate is the default in Washington and results in one of the simplest probate processes in the country. Once the court appoints a personal representative and grants nonintervention powers, that representative can usually administer the estate without going back to the court for routine decisions.
What we’ll cover in detail
- Which estates qualify for nonintervention powers
- What the personal representative can do without court approval
- When you still need to return to court (will contests, creditor disputes, removing a representative)
- How nonintervention compares to formal supervised probate
- The costs you can typically expect
If you’ve been named personal representative or you’re trying to figure out what kind of probate your situation needs, give us a call.
